The 82‑year‑old designer delivered layered, distressed garments and urged audiences to enjoy summer despite climate concerns.

Yohji Yamamoto staged his Spring/Summer 2027 runway at Paris’s Hôtel de Ville on 2 October 2026, showcasing woven, distressed dresses, gossamer‑fine knits, shredded wool strips and goth‑style caftans, according to Elle.

The show continued Yamamoto’s long‑standing policy of minimal screens: guests received cards urging them to “be present and experience the presentation with your eyes rather than your screen,” resulting in fewer phones in the venue.

Backstage, the 82‑year‑old designer, who turns 83 the next day, fielded selfies from models and answered a question about his message, replying, “Enjoy summer. Because the ice of the North Pole is melting. But I don’t know if we should suffer too much. Just enjoy summer.”
