USC and No. 2 Ohio State are slated to kick off their Halloween‑Homecoming game at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, with both programs wrestling with significant injuries, according to the Los Angeles Times.

What happened

USC’s left guard Hayden Treter and another lineman, referred to only as Paige, returned from injury before the Wisconsin game but the line still allowed quarterback Jayden Maiava five sacks, limiting the Trojans’ run game. Treter was listed as out again after exiting early against Wisconsin. Freshman tight end Mark Bowman and defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart were also marked questionable.

What the reports add

Ohio State’s star quarterback Julian Sayin, injured on Oct. 17 against Indiana, is expected to miss the rest of the season, leaving coach Ryan Day to choose between freshman Luke Fahey and sophomore Tavien St. Clair. Defensive tackle Jide Abasiri said the Buckeyes are preparing for either option.

What was said

USC offensive line coach Raymond told reporters the line’s performance “wasn’t good enough,” while Stewart said he feels “great” and is “slowly getting better for the team.” Riley, an Ohio State representative, said the team expects to adjust to whichever quarterback starts.
