Urban Meyer calls USC football an ‘injured animal’ on his show
Meyer blamed USC’s recent struggles on coach Lincoln Riley’s inability to win big games.

Three‑time national championship‑winning coach Urban Meyer said USC football is an “injured animal” during his Friday show, "The Triple Option," according to nypost.com.
Meyer linked the comment to head coach Lincoln Riley’s record since arriving at USC in 2022, noting a 5‑15 mark against ranked opponents compared with a 15‑6 record at Oklahoma. He cited the Trojans’ recent 41‑27 home loss to Oregon as evidence of the team’s problems.
The former coach also referenced his own past experience, saying he once placed four coaches in Texas and secured three top players for Ohio State, implying such moves are rare. Meyer added that while Kirby Smart revived Georgia before his tenure, USC now resembles an “injured animal” in Los Angeles.
Despite the criticism, USC’s recent recruiting class includes defensive end Luke Wafle and tight end Mark Bowman, and the team faces a schedule featuring Washington, Penn State, Wisconsin, Indiana, UCLA and a home game against Ohio State on Oct. 31.
