Five men in their 20s, all UK nationals from London, were arrested on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act and preparation of a terrorist act after a local farmer reported masked individuals and three suspicious vans near RAF Fairford at around 1.36 am on Sunday, Standard reported. Dozens of homes were evacuated, a 400‑metre cordon was set up and bomb disposal teams were deployed. The suspects – a 24‑year‑old from Camden, three men aged 23‑25 from Westminster and a 24‑year‑old from Willesden – were released on bail on Monday pending further enquiries. Defence Secretary Wes Streeting praised the farmer’s alert, while Iran denied any link to the arrests.
