In Abu Dhabi, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, presented an honour to the Operation Gallant Knight 3 team for its sustained humanitarian work in Gaza. The ceremony, held on 29 September 2026, celebrated the team’s contribution to the UAE’s aid programme, which has supplied more than 130,000 tonnes of assistance to the Gaza Strip since 2023.
Sheikh Saif noted that the team operates quietly but its impact is evident, citing relief convoys, medical care and logistical support that “always put people first” and embody UAE values. He added that the Future Leaders Empowerment Programme delegation had joined a field mission in Al Arish, Egypt, where they helped prepare the first relief convoy for Gaza and were briefed at the Rafah Crossing on procedures for delivering aid.
Scale of the UAE’s Aid Effort
The UAE’s operation has involved 792 aircraft, more than 14,000 trucks and 25 ships, delivering aid that includes food, health parcels and medical supplies. Six desalination plants have been built, pumping two million gallons of water daily, and 640,000 polio vaccines have been distributed. The total cost of the humanitarian work has exceeded $4 billion, with around 192,000 people receiving treatment and 3,000 injured children, cancer patients and their companions hosted in the Humanitarian City.
