UAE airlines delay and cancel Riyadh flights after Houthi missile claim

On Oct. 8, UAE carriers announced disruptions to flights bound for Riyadh after the Iran‑backed Houthis claimed a missile strike on King Khalid Airport. Etihad Airways said flight EY555 from Abu Dhabi to Riyadh would face an extended delay, and the return flight EY556 would also be delayed. Flydubai cancelled flights 855 and 856 to and from Riyadh International Airport.
The Houthis’ military spokesman Yahya Saree said a ballistic missile hit the airport at midday. An Etihad spokesperson described the situation as dynamic and urged passengers to check the airline’s website, while a flydubai spokesperson said the airline was monitoring the situation and would update customers through official channels.
