Dubai – Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman told DFW Ticket radio that he will continue broadcasting for ESPN through the current NFL season but his future after the contract expires remains uncertain, according to Gulf News.
Aikman said he is "a free agent at the end of the year" and will "see what happens" regarding his next landing spot. He declined to comment on reports of tension with fellow commentator Joe Buck, noting that "there’s probably a time and a place for all that" and that he does not know if now is the right moment to discuss it.
The speculation follows reports that Buck has secured a six‑year, $108 million extension with ESPN, while Aikman has not yet received a formal renewal offer. Front Office Sports alleged the pair argued before Monday night’s Los Angeles Rams‑Buffalo Bills game, though the disagreement was said to have de‑escalated before the broadcast. ESPN declined to comment on the situation.
Aikman and Buck moved to ESPN from Fox in 2022, continuing a partnership that began in 2002 and has become one of the league’s most recognizable commentary duos.
