Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told the New York Post he will be watching Game 6 of the WNBA Finals "about that time" and will have breakfast while the Golden State Valkyries face the Atlanta Dream early Thursday morning.
Kerr, who has never had to tip off a Finals game during a workday, said the league’s decision to move the game to a morning slot was the best solution given the scheduling clash with the NBA’s State Farm Arena, which was already booked for a Hawks‑Cavaliers matchup.
The Valkyries, an expansion team in their second season, have played every home game at the 18,064‑seat Chase Center since their launch, while the Dream normally play at the 3,500‑seat Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia. For Games 3 and 4 the Dream used State Farm Arena after working with the Hawks to adjust their schedule.
Kerr joked that a morning tip‑off was "better than having it at the YMCA that night in front of 75 people" and added that the Valkyries’ coach Natalie Nakase and her staff handle the Xs and Os, though he stays in touch via text for support.
The decision to move Game 6 to an 8:30 a.m. local tip‑off (12:30 p.m. ET) came after the league explored a primetime slot but ultimately agreed to a double‑header with the Hawks, squeezing the WNBA game into the arena’s schedule.
