Southwest Airlines adds milestone‑based rewards to Rapid Rewards
The airline’s updated program introduces Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers with new redemption options.
By Felo News Desk · Published
Southwest Airlines announced that its Rapid Rewards program will shift to a milestone‑based structure, allowing members to receive benefits before attaining a full loyalty tier. The changes take effect on January 1, 2027.
What happened
The revised program will roll out three tiers—Silver, Gold and Platinum. Platinum members will receive unlimited Companion Pass trips. Additional benefits such as points, seat certificates and Companion Pass trips can be earned throughout a member’s progress, not only after a tier is reached.
What the reports add
The update also promises international airline reward partnerships in spring 2027 and new redemption options for rental cars and seat selection. Faster status qualification may be supported by Chase credit‑card spending, linking financial services to loyalty acceleration.
