Sharjah Warns Parents of Burn Risks from Squishy and Slime Toys

The Sharjah Family and Community Council urges caution after US Consumer Product Safety Commission warns of potential burns.

By Felo News Desk · Published

Sharjah’s Child Safety, an affiliate of the Sharjah Family and Community Council, has issued a warning to parents and caregivers about the potential burn and injury risks associated with some squishy and slime toys. The alert follows concerns over products of unknown origin and the materials they may contain, including gelatinous substances, liquids, powders or water beads. The council cautions that if a toy’s outer casing is torn or damaged, children could be exposed to its contents, and that swallowing water beads could be dangerous.

The warning comes after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a notice about videos encouraging children to microwave squishy toys to make them expand or change shape. Heating such toys can cause them to explode and release hot substances that may stick to the skin and cause burns.
