Scarlett Johansson says comfort with Adam Driver shaped their new film Paper Tiger

Johansson highlighted the ease of working with Driver and the dynamic with co‑star Miles Teller during a BFI London Film Festival screening.

Scarlett Johansson told reporters at the BFI London Film Festival that the familiarity she shares with Adam Driver helped shape their performances in the crime drama Paper Tiger. The film, directed by James Gray, casts Driver as former police officer Gary Pearl and Johansson as his sister‑in‑law Hester Pearl, while Miles Teller plays Irwin, Gary’s younger brother.

Johansson said, “Our characters have a different relationship in this film of course because we are in‑laws. I love Adam’s work so much and he is really one of my favourite actors and I think the comfortability we have from doing such intimate work before really pays off in this too.” She added that Teller was “such a huge part of the dynamic.”

Gray described the movie as “all about trying to catch the American dream” in a period when “money became God.” The synopsis follows two brothers who become entangled with the Russian mafia, threatening family bonds.
