Sam Underhill to miss Nations Championship after bicep rupture

Bath confirmed the 30‑year‑old flanker will undergo surgery and be sidelined until at least December.

England flanker Sam Underhill will miss the Nations Championship after rupturing his bicep in Bath's opening Premiership match against Harlequins, BBC reported.

Underhill left the game in the 48th minute at The Stoop and was later seen with his arm strapped. He is expected to undergo surgery later in the week and be out of action until December or January, meaning he will also miss England's November internationals against Australia, Japan and New Zealand.

Bath head of rugby Johann van Graan said he recognised the seriousness of the injury immediately, went to Underhill on the pitch and, after a scan, confirmed a biceps rupture. Van Graan told BBC Radio Somerset that the operation would keep Underhill "a few months out of the game".
