Rutgers senior quarterback Dylan Lonergan left the game against No. 24 Northwestern after a head collision 6 minutes, 25 seconds into the first quarter, the Associated Press reported.

Lonergan scrambled for a five‑yard gain before his helmet struck Northwestern defender Kobie McKinzie’s helmet, forcing him to the ground. He remained on the field briefly before staff helped him to the medical tent.

Junior AJ Surace replaced Lonergan and led a drive that resulted in a field goal. Lonergan jogged on the sidelines but did not return, and a team official said no medical update would be released before the game’s end.

Before the injury, Lonergan had accumulated 1,066 passing yards, completing 74 of 122 attempts with ten touchdowns in five games.
