Vladimir Teslov, a 27‑year‑old Russian‑Australian citizen from Victoria, appeared in a Brisbane court via video link on 2 October 2026, charged with attempting to engage in intentional foreign interference on behalf of Russia, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

Prosecutors say Teslov travelled to Russia in October 2024 for military‑style training, returned to Australia, and then went to Ukraine in May 2025 to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They allege he collected information from Ukrainian forces, believing he was acting for Moscow. Police seized 17 devices, which are being analysed for evidence.

Teslov was arrested in August 2026 by the Counter Foreign Interference Taskforce. In court, magistrate Ross Mack asked if he had questions; Teslov replied, “No, your honour.” His lawyer requested that the brief of evidence be ordered. Commonwealth prosecutor Ellie McDonald described the alleged conduct as risking the safety of Ukrainian military personnel.
