Matt Renshaw compiled an unbeaten 102 off 218 balls, guiding Australia to 277-8 at lunch on Day 2 of the first Test against South Africa in Durban on Saturday, the Associated Press reported.
Renshaw, who entered the innings on 46 overnight, added a 86‑run partnership for the seventh wicket with Nathan Lyon (7*), stabilising an innings that had slumped to 187-6 after a rain‑affected Day 1. Pat Cummins, 33* overnight, contributed only ten runs before being caught off Wiaan Mulder. Mulder claimed two wickets in the morning (4‑51), while Marco Jansen (2‑49) and Anrich Nortje (2‑71) shared the remaining dismissals. Mitchell Starc fell to Mulder later in the session.
The century was Renshaw's second Test hundred, the first since his 184 against Pakistan in Sydney in 2017. Australia won the toss on Friday and chose to bat, later crashing to 84-4 and 124-6 around lunch before Renshaw’s rescue effort.
