Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of protecting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and said the INDIA bloc would march to the Supreme Court to file a petition.

Speaking at a press conference at the All India Congress Committee headquarters in New Delhi, Gandhi said protests against alleged vote theft had grown into a public movement over the past four to five days. He claimed the government was turning Delhi into a "fortress" with thousands of police, CRPF and RAF personnel deployed, and that metro stations would remain restricted until 4 pm on October 12.

Gandhi said he and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had written to Chief Justice of India, who directed them to file a petition. "We want to show the country that the government, PM Narendra Modi, is protecting Gyanesh Kumar," he told reporters, according to New Indian Express.
