Secretary of War Pete Hegseth accused of covering up Iranian missile injuries to eight Marines

Eight Marines injured in a September 14 Iranian missile strike were only recorded in Pentagon casualty data ten days later, leading to accusations that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth covered up the incident.

Eight U.S. Marines were injured when an Iranian cruise missile struck a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on September 14, but the Pentagon did not add the casualties to its Defense Casualty Analysis System until about ten days later, three anonymous officials told NBC News, according to a Daily Mail report.

The officials said the Marines, part of a battalion landing team, suffered smoke inhalation, possible traumatic brain injuries and concussion‑like symptoms, though none were described as serious and all returned to duty shortly after.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has been accused of covering up the injuries, with critics saying the delayed reporting raises questions about how the Pentagon tracks casualties in the ongoing conflict with Iran.
