Pakistan's trade deficit expanded by more than 6% year‑on‑year to $3.56 bn in September 2026, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported.
Exports reached $2.94 bn, a 17.6% increase from $2.5 bn a year earlier, while imports climbed to $6.49 bn, up over 11% from $5.85 bn in September 2025. The faster growth in imports pushed the monthly deficit up nearly 8% from the $3.29 bn recorded in August 2026.
For the first quarter of fiscal year 2026‑27, the deficit stood at $10.79 bn, 15% higher than the $9.37 bn recorded in the same period a year before. Exports rose about 11% to $8.42 bn, but imports surged more than 13% to $19.22 bn.
