San Diego – New Padres ownership group members José E. Feliciano and Kwanza Jones made a joking remark about Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter before Game 2 of the National League Wild Card Series against the Chicago Cubs on Oct 1, 2026, according to nypost.com.

What happened

During a pre‑game press conference at Petco Park, Feliciano was asked by an Associated Press reporter about the Dodgers and their owner. After an initial “I don’t know,” he replied, “The owner of the Dodgers owns a lot of dinosaurs,” before walking away.

What the reports add

The New York Post noted that the comment was delivered “off the record” but repeated publicly, and that fans quickly interpreted “dinosaurs” as a jab at the Dodgers’ aging roster, which includes several veterans in their mid‑to‑late 30s. Social media users mocked the Dodgers, suggesting “Jurassic Park” as a new stadium name.

What was said

Feliciano said, “The owner of the Dodgers owns a lot of dinosaurs,” as reported by nypost.com. The AP reporter responded, “On the field?” prompting laughter from Jones.

How it came about

The comment follows the Padres’ recent ownership change, with Feliciano and Jones joining the group only weeks earlier. Their willingness to engage in rivalry banter mirrors previous Padres‑Dodgers tensions, such as the 2024 NLDS where San Diego famously displayed provocative signage against Los Angeles.
