National Green Tribunal Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava visited the Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden in Howrah district on Saturday, Oct 3, 2026, and joined a tree‑plantation drive organised under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, PTI reported.
What happened
The ceremony took place in the Endemic and Threatened Plant Section of the 273‑acre garden, which houses more than 12,000 living plants, including rare orchids and giant Amazon water lilies. Senior NGT officials Registrar Deepto Ghosh, Deputy Registrar Tanushree Dutta and Assistant Registrar Yash Kumar Singh were present.
