NFVF appoints Dr Shadrack Bokaba as new CEO
The appointment comes as the department activates emergency powers to keep film funding flowing.

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) announced on 2 Oct 2026 that Dr Shadrack Bokaba will take up the chief executive officer role, effective 1 Oct 2026. The appointment follows a ministerial directive to dissolve the NFVF Council and the temporary activation of Section 49(3) of the Public Finance Management Act, giving the new CEO authority to act as the entity’s Accounting Authority.
Company secretary Lindeka Moeng said the emergency mechanism will allow the CEO to sign off on quarterly core‑funding allocations and Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme disbursements, preventing financial delays for independent filmmakers and production houses.
Dr Bokaba, who brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across music, theatre, film and cultural policy, holds an MBA and a PhD in Cultural Policy and Management. He told bizcommunity.com, "I am happy to be back and look forward to working with the NFVF to serve the film sector in South Africa."
