North Carolina State University fired head football coach Dave Doeren on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, ending a 14‑season tenure that included the program’s all‑time wins record but no ACC championship or 10‑win season.

Doeren, 54, left with a 98‑74 record after the Wolfpack fell to 3‑4 with a road loss to Stanford, a team projected to finish last in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Athletic director Boo Corrigan thanked Doeren for his service and wished him and his family well. Running backs coach and special teams coordinator Todd Goebbel was named interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

During Doeren’s time, NC State earned 11 bowl bids and posted eight or nine wins in most seasons, including a 9‑4 victory over rival North Carolina. However, the program never reached an ACC championship game or the 10‑win mark, which has been achieved only once in its history. The 2026 season marked a rapid decline, prompting the university’s decision.
