Michael Che has announced a new stand‑up special for Netflix, titled Shot in Minnesota. The hour‑long show will premiere on 13 October and will be directed by Che himself, who also serves as executive producer alongside Matthew Vaughan of Rotten Science. The special was taped at First Avenue in Minneapolis, a venue known for its live music and comedy history.
Che’s announcement comes shortly after his 13th consecutive year as the host of the “Weekend Update” desk on Saturday Night Live, where he recently returned for the Season 52 premiere. In a clip from the new special, Che jokes about his longtime SNL colleague Colin Jost and Jost’s wife, Scarlett Johansson, remarking on the oddity of their relationship.
Prior to this, Che released two Netflix specials: Michael Che Matters in 2016 and Michael Che: Shame the Devil in 2021. He also created the sketch comedy series That Damn Michael Che, which ran for two seasons on HBO Max.
