Manchester United's hierarchy decided not to dismiss Michael Carrick, keeping him in charge for the Saturday trip to Chelsea, according to the Independent. The 45-year-old manager had been under pressure after eight games without a win, including heavy defeats 4-1 to Como and 3-0 to Bournemouth.
Sporting director Jason Wilcox and chief executive Omar Berrada were present at Carrington training ground on Monday, where Carrick continued normal training on Tuesday. United dropped captain Bruno Fernandes for the Bournemouth game after he criticised Carrick's tactics following the Como loss.
Potential replacements being floated include Eddie Howe, Julian Nagelsmann and Antonio Conte. After Chelsea, United will host Roma in the Champions League and then face Aston Villa before the international break.
