Officials with the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office said a farmer discovered an 11‑foot metallic object in a western Minnesota cornfield near Scott Township at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office described the hunk as "presumably a space object" and noted that serial numbers on the metal could aid investigators in identifying its owner. Federal and state agents are now working together to locate the owner and arrange removal of the debris.

According to KGW8, the farmer believes the object has been in the field for at least six weeks, based on the size of corn growing around it. Officials added the metal poses no danger to the public.
