By Saturday night, Oct. 17, No. 15 Kentucky had rallied in the second half to beat Oklahoma 21‑13 in Norman, Oklahoma, moving into a tie for the SEC lead, the Associated Press reported.
Kenny Minchey threw two touchdown passes, first connecting with tight end Willie Hernandez for a 12‑yard score that gave Kentucky a 14‑13 lead after Adam Zouagui’s extra point. Later, Minchey drove the Wildcats 44 yards in seven plays to set up the score.
Defensively, Kentucky forced four interceptions against Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer. Jordan Castell returned a 41‑yard interception for a touchdown that sealed the win. Mateer finished with 270 passing yards and one touchdown but his turnovers proved costly.
The Wildcats, now 6‑1 overall and 4‑1 in the SEC, have won five straight games and have pulled even with No. 1 Georgia after the Bulldogs lost to Auburn. Oklahoma (3‑3, 1‑2) had knocked off then‑No. 1 Texas the previous week but could not overcome the turnover margin.
Looking ahead, Kentucky will host Vanderbilt on Saturday, while Oklahoma travels to No. 16 Mississippi State.
