Jon Stewart will remain the Monday host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show through December 2028, according to a statement from Skydance Television on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026.

What happened

Stewart, who returned to the program on Mondays in early 2024, signed a new agreement that extends his weekly anchoring duties and adds an executive‑producer role through the 2028 presidential election. The deal was announced by Skydance Television, the owner of Comedy Central, on Oct. 19, 2026. Tuesdays through Thursdays will continue to be anchored by regular correspondents Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic.

What the reports add

Rolling Stone noted that Stewart’s original Monday return was intended for the 2024 election cycle and that his duties were previously extended through 2026 in November 2025. The Los Angeles Times added that the extension covers the 2028 presidential election and highlighted the network’s need to retain its biggest talent for cable and satellite providers.

What was said

George Cheeks, co‑chair and chief content officer of Skydance TV, said, “Jon Stewart is a generational talent and The Daily Show continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central,” in a statement reported by both outlets. He added, “We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award‑winning news team.”

How it came about

Stewart first hosted The Daily Show from 1999 until 2015, after which Trevor Noah took over. Following Noah’s 2022 departure, the Monday slot was filled by a rotating cast until Stewart’s return in early 2024. Earlier this month, Felo News reported on Stewart’s political commentary, noting his warning to Democratic leaders on Oct. 1, 2026 (see article).
