Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić recorded his 199th career triple‑double as the short‑handed Nuggets erased a 23‑point deficit to defeat the New Orleans Pelicans 141‑135 in overtime on Saturday night, according to the Associated Press.
Jokić scored 35 points, including eight in the extra period, grabbed 15 rebounds and handed out 10 assists. Jamal Murray added a game‑high 42 points, with rookie Trevon Brazile contributing seven of his 17 points in overtime. Murray’s corner three with 1:25 left in OT gave Denver a 133‑129 lead, and he later hit two of three free throws to tie the game before the Nuggets pulled ahead.
Denver played without Cam Johnson (ankle) and Alpha Diallo (sprained wrist) and remained without Julian Strawther and Spencer Jones. New Orleans led 65.9% shooting in the first half and held a 23‑point advantage early, but the Nuggets cut the margin to 16 before the third quarter. Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III led New Orleans with 26 points; Dejounte Murray added 22, while De‑Andre Jordan, Derik Queen and Zion Williamson each scored 17.
The Pelicans, under first‑year coach Jamahl Mosley, have lost their first three games. Center Yves Missi suffered a knee contusion on Friday, which was reported as non‑severe. Denver’s next game is at home against Golden State on Monday; the Pelicans host Denver again on Wednesday.
