NRL to honour Jai Arrow with lap of honour at grand final

A tribute featuring Arrow circling the stadium to "You’ll Never Walk Alone" will replace the planned Tones and I performance.

The National Rugby League announced that a tribute to Jai Arrow will replace the traditional pre‑game entertainment at the grand final between the Sydney Roosters and Newcastle Knights at Accor Stadium on Sunday.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Arrow – diagnosed with motor neurone disease earlier this year – will complete a lap of honour to the song "You’ll Never Walk Alone," performed by a group of Australian artists. The lap is scheduled for 7:05 pm, 25 minutes before kickoff, and the roughly 80,000‑strong crowd will be asked to gesture as if firing an arrow.

The NRL said it will redirect $1 million intended for a headline act to junior rugby league development after talks with Australian artist Tones and I collapsed because she declined to perform her hit "Dance Monkey."
