Meta confirmed to Billboard on Oct. 9 that Instagram was recommending Creed’s 1999 single “Higher” to an unusually large number of users as a suggested track for posts and Stories. “We looked into this and found that this song is being recommended to more people than intended,” a Meta spokesperson said, adding that the company is continuing to investigate.

The report noted that users had been posting about the odd recommendations on social media, with some joking about a conspiracy. Billboard reached out to Creed for comment but received none. The spokesperson also clarified that another frequently suggested track, Soulja Boy’s “Turn My Swag On,” is performing as expected on the platform.
