Hugo Taylor posted a Tolkien quote on Instagram on Wednesday, coinciding with media reports that his ex‑wife Millie Mackintosh was out on a date with Welsh fitness enthusiast Matthew Tanner.

What happened

Millie Mackintosh, 37, was spotted hand‑in‑hand with 38‑year‑old Matthew Tanner during a walk in Chelsea last Friday, smiling and pausing at a road crossing. The pair were later seen sharing a brief, affectionate moment on a dog walk. Tanner, who works as a Global Solutions Director and Programme Director at Robert Walters Consultancy, wore a Ralph Lauren shirt and skinny chinos, displaying a large arm tattoo.

What the reports add

Daily Mail noted that Tanner, known online as “Matty,” maintains a fitness‑focused lifestyle, posting mirror selfies of his six‑pack and having previously played amateur rugby before a 2025 knee injury ended his playing career. He has since turned to endurance racing and ultra‑marathons. The outlet also detailed Tanner’s professional role and attire during the outing.

What was said

The Daily Mail reproduced the full Instagram caption posted by Hugo Taylor: “All that is gold does not glitter. Not all those who wander are lost. The old that is strong does not wither. Deep roots are not reached by the frost.” The article identified the lines as the opening of a poem by J.R.R. Tolkien from *The Fellowship of the Ring*, noting the reversal of the proverb “All that glitters is not gold.”

How it came about

Taylor and Mackintosh, both former stars of *Made In Chelsea*, announced their separation earlier this year after seven years of marriage and filed for divorce in February. They share two daughters, Sienna, six, and Aurelia, four, who split time between their parents’ homes. The timing of Taylor’s Instagram post follows Mackintosh’s recent public appearance with Tanner, marking eight months since the couple’s split.
