Glastonbury 2027 ticket system overhaul sparks fan panic

A new pre‑queue registration step for Glastonbury 2027 tickets has left fans worried about losing their syndicate advantage.

Glastonbury fans attempting to buy tickets for the 2027 festival were caught off‑guard on Thursday evening, 1 October, when the organiser introduced a major change to the online purchase process, according to The Independent.

What happened

The first wave of coach tickets went on sale at 6 pm BST on 1 October and sold out in under 30 minutes. The general admission sale is set for 9 am on Sunday 4 October. Traditionally, buyers entered a virtual queue and supplied their registration number only after reaching the front. The new system now asks for the registration number before joining the queue, assigning each user a unique place in line. Attempting to use the same registration number on multiple devices no longer creates additional queue spots.

What the reports add

The Independent notes that the change appears aimed at curbing bots and touts while making the process more democratic. It also reports that fans discovered the alteration only moments before the coach ticket sale began, prompting a “mild air of panic” among those hoping to secure tickets on Sunday.

What was said

"I’m hoping that the death of the Glastonbury syndicate has been greatly exaggerated," said Henry, a 32‑year‑old fan, to The Independent. Jessica, who organised a syndicate of 36 friends, told the outlet, "Removing the syndicates makes things more equal in terms of accessing tickets, but having a syndicate also rewards a level of determination and commitment… Now this change minimises all that, but it has made it more fair and I’m not against it at all." A fan on social media warned, "For Glastonbury sale on Sunday, be very careful not to queue in two devices at the same time… The system ask for your registration number BEFORE you can join the queue and then if you queue twice the queue ID is THE SAME."
