Irish post‑punk group Fontaines D.C. announced a collaboration with Spanish artist Rosalía on the song “Where Is Gone?” slated for their forthcoming album Dopamine Chamber, due October 16 via XL.

What happened

The band released a short preview of the track and issued a press release quoting guitarist Carlos O’Connell, who highlighted the cultural link between Irish and Spanish music traditions.

What the reports add

Pitchfork notes that O’Connell, raised in Madrid with both Spanish and Irish influences, said he has admired Rosalía since her debut and sees her work as spiritually akin to the band’s own musical aims.

What was said

“I’ve been a fan of ROSALÍA since her debut album, which was absolutely beautiful. What really excited me was how she was keeping a Spanish tradition of music alive, which in a spiritual way felt akin to what we’ve tried to do with Irish music,” O’Connell told Pitchfork.

How it came about

The collaboration follows Rosalía’s recent TV appearances, including a Saturday Night Live performance of “Reliquia” and “Magnolias.” Fontaines D.C.’s upcoming album, produced by James Ford, continues the band’s evolution after earlier releases highlighted in Felo’s recent coverage of their greatest songs.
