EU foreign policy chief says lifting Russian diesel sanctions would fund Ukraine war
Kaja Kallas said easing diesel sanctions would boost Kremlin war financing, as President Trump announced a fuel supply agreement with Russia.

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas warned on Saturday that lifting sanctions on Russian diesel would provide Moscow with additional revenue to fund its war in Ukraine, following President Donald Trump's announcement of a diesel supply deal with Russia.
Kallas posted online that Russian strikes had killed over 80 Ukrainian civilians in two days and that hybrid attacks against Europe had intensified. She wrote, "Suspending sanctions on Russian diesel provides Moscow with more revenues to wage war. This is not the time to ease pressure on Russia, and Europe won't."
Trump said on Friday he had secured Russia's agreement for a major diesel release as part of an effort to lower energy costs ahead of U.S. mid‑term elections. The announcement prompted a furious reaction from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and the EU said it would continue to increase its own measures against Moscow.
