Emaar founder says regional crisis will pass and UAE will emerge stronger
Alabbar highlighted Emaar's performance during the conflict and warned against deep discounts.

Speaking at the Rise summit in Dubai, Emaar founder Mohammed Alabbar said the regional conflict will pass and the United Arab Emirates will emerge stronger. He referenced the UAE’s past resilience during the 2008 financial crash, the September 11 attacks and the Covid‑19 pandemic.
Alabbar noted that Emaar’s usual sales of about 4,000 units a month saw cancellations rise from 600 to 1,200 during the crisis, but cancellations have now fallen back below 600. He said the developer holds roughly Dh170 billion in pre‑sale backlog and that most buyers are still paying on schedule, similar to 2025 levels.
The founder added that hospitality occupancy sits at 60‑65 percent, lower than the 20‑30 percent growth seen in recent years, and rejected calls for large discounts, saying a 30 percent cut would be unfair to existing customers.
