Egypt pledges full support to Saudi Arabia amid Houthi attacks
The Egyptian presidency announced readiness to aid Saudi defence and diplomatic de‑escalation as Houthi strikes hit Riyadh and Saudi Aramco.

Egypt’s presidency said on Sunday that Cairo will give "all necessary and possible support" to Saudi Arabia to defend its safety and stability as Yemen’s Houthi rebels continue attacks on the kingdom.
What happened
The National Defence Council, chaired by President Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi, declared that Egypt stands fully with Saudi Arabia to protect its resources, territorial integrity and Islamic holy sites. The statement came after recent Houthi strikes on Riyadh’s international airport and Saudi Aramco facilities.
What the reports add
Al Jazeera reported that the Egyptian president’s office also said Cairo will intensify diplomatic efforts for de‑escalation and act in line with guidance from Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who visited Egypt last month.
What was said
"Egypt stands fully with Saudi Arabia to defend its resources, territorial integrity and Islamic holy sites," the presidency said, according to Al Jazeera.
How it came about
Earlier this month, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met President el‑Sisi in Cairo, seeking Egyptian backing against Houthi attacks that threaten Red Sea shipping. Egypt’s earlier statements linked Saudi security to its own national interests, especially the flow of traffic through the Suez Canal.
