Ilia Belov, 23, was sentenced on Friday at Dundee Sheriff Court to 18 months of supervision, 300 hours of unpaid work and placement on the sex offenders register for 18 months after being found guilty of assaulting a 12‑year‑old girl and behaving in a threatening manner towards four other girls aged 12 to 14.

The court heard Belov made sexual remarks to the 12‑year‑old as she walked to a bus stop, then called his sister Nadjedzha Belova, 20, who arrived and attacked a 13‑year‑old. The 12‑year‑old fell, hitting her head on a metal handrail, and later claimed she had hidden an axe and knife in her waistband before discarding them at a roundabout where police recovered them.

Sheriff Timothy Niven‑Smith dismissed Belov’s version of events as “neither credible nor reliable”. Belova, who had earlier pleaded guilty to assaulting a 13‑year‑old, received 180 hours of unpaid work.
