Dubai police arrested a 22‑person begging gang on 28 September after a tip‑off through the Police Eye service on the Dubai Police app. The group had posed as stranded travellers and approached motorists on major roads, asking for money to cover travel expenses.

According to the police, the operation began when officers received information about people approaching drivers on the roads and appealing for money on the pretext that they were stranded and needed financial assistance to cover their travel expenses. Surveillance and information‑gathering operations led to the arrest of all 22 members, with legal procedures initiated against them.

The gang was found begging at several busy areas, including Al Khor Street, Ras Al Khor, the Bu Kadra Bridge area and the Dubai‑Al Ain Road bridge. Police warned that begging on main roads is illegal and can create serious safety risks for both beggars and motorists. They urged motorists not to respond to such tactics and not to stop in locations where doing so could endanger themselves or others.
