Wallets tied to the April 1 hack of the decentralized exchange Drift moved a total of $109 million in Ether to the crypto mixer Tornado Cash over two days, Cointelegraph reported.
What happened
On Tuesday, a wallet associated with the “Drift exploiter” sent 26,710 Ether, valued at roughly $61 million, to Tornado Cash. The following day, the same group transferred an additional 18,800 Ether, worth about $46 million, to the mixer.
What the report adds
Blockchain data tracker Onchain Lenssaidon X calculated the two‑day total at 44,510 Ether, or $109 million, which is nearly 37% of the $295 million stolen in the original hack, according to DefiLlama. Arkham data shows the exploiter‑linked wallets still hold 56,569 Ether, about $138 million, after the recent transfers.
How it came about
The April hack, attributed by security firm Mandiant to a North Korean threat group, left the DEX with $295 million in losses. Drift opened claims and redemption tokens for DFX recovery on Oct. 1, offering users a share of a $3.1 million pool funded by exchange revenue and recovered assets.
