Dodgers face sweltering heat in NLDS Game 1 as Skubal takes mound
A 100‑degree forecast could limit Skubal’s outing and test the Dodgers’ struggling bullpen.

Los Angeles will host Atlanta for Game 1 of the NLDS on Saturday at 1 p.m. PDT, and the New York Post reports the temperature is expected to reach 100 °F, the hottest day of the weekend’s heat wave.
Starting pitcher Tarik Skubal, 29, will face the Braves in those extreme conditions. A study cited by the Post says hot environments can boost slugging percentage, isolated power, walks and home runs for both pitchers and hitters. The outlet also notes that high heat can impair grip, control and increase dehydration risk.
The Braves entered the series with a .409 slugging percentage, tied with the Dodgers for fourth in the National League in home runs (204). Matt Olson led Atlanta with a .502 slugging mark and 41 homers. Meanwhile, FanGraphs recorded the Dodgers’ bullpen as the weakest link, posting a 3.74 ERA, a 9.9% walk rate and 0.96 HR/9.
Game 2, scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday, is expected to be cooler, reducing heat‑related concerns for the remainder of the series.
