Bengaluru's Gandhi Bhavan inaugurated Karnataka's first digital museum, "Mahatmana Payana," on Friday, offering a QR‑enabled, audio‑guided tour of Mahatma Gandhi's life from childhood to his final days.
President Wooday P Krishna told reporters that the museum was conceived and redesigned by Dr A Annamalai, director of the National Gandhi Museum in New Delhi. Visitors can scan original photographs with smartphones to hear explanations in Kannada and English, and a replica of the Sabarmati Ashram has been built on site.
The rotating gallery, updated every six months, currently highlights Gandhi's work as a journalist. Exhibits include rare letters, such as Gandhi's appeal to Adolf Hitler, a Kannada message written for R R Diwakar, and a portrait of his elder brother. A recording of the Hitler letter is voiced by actor Amitabh Bachchan.
