A transcript of a November 2024 interview with the alleged victim shows her stating she was raped, a key factor in the prosecutor's decision to reopen the case.

CBS News New York obtained a transcript of a November 14‑15, 2024 interview between Cornell University police and the alleged victim, identified as Jane Doe.

During the interview, Doe said she was "super drunk" when she arrived at the party and initially felt "pretty OK" with the sexual activity, but later described being "physically hit very, very hard" and said, "I can say with 100% confidence I was raped." She later affirmed confidence in her six‑page written statement.

The transcript shows a campus police investigator, a Title IX investigator, a victim advocate and Doe’s adviser present. The investigator typed her account, read it back word for word and allowed corrections. On the second day, Doe reviewed the revised statement and, before signing, said, "I'm very confident about this."

The Tompkins County District Attorney cited Doe’s signed 2024 statement as central to his decision not to bring charges at the time. Prosecutors have now reopened the criminal investigation, and the case is slated for grand‑jury review.
