Rangers recall Cole Beaudoin after brief AHL stint amid LTIR cap maneuver
Cole Beaudoin returned to the Rangers roster after a single shift with Hartford, part of a cap‑saving strategy following Igor Shesterkin’s injury.

According to the New York Post, the New York Rangers recalled forward Cole Beaudoin on Sunday, October 11, 2026, after he spent only one shift with the Hartford Wolf‑Pack on Saturday. The move came as the Rangers managed their long‑term injured reserve (LTIR) cap after starting goalie Igor Shesterkin was ruled out for the season.
The Rangers had initially sent Beaudoin to Hartford to free up space for Juuso Parssinen, whose recall added $308,000 to the team’s cap and brought the organization closer to its optimal LTIR capture. Under the new collective bargaining agreement, a player sent down must appear in one game before becoming eligible for recall; Beaudoin’s single shift against the Wilkes‑Barre Scranton Penguins satisfied that requirement.
Head coach Mike Sullivan said Beaudoin “played very little” by design, praising his energy and potential. "He’s a young guy, he’s going to make mistakes along the way, but we’ll help him through that process," Sullivan told the Post.
Beaudoin, 20, described the back‑and‑forth as “crazy” but expressed happiness to be back with the varsity group. He expects to skate on the Rangers’ fourth line alongside Jaroslav Chmelar and Oliver Bjorkstrand. In his second NHL game, Beaudoin committed a turnover that led to a game‑winning goal for the Capitals, a mistake he said he was working to overcome.
The Rangers have a day off Monday before facing the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.
