Clive Barker says Hellraiser video game sparks new film ideas

The creator says the recent game revives the franchise and will keep his involvement alive.

By Felo News Desk · Published

Clive Barker told horror outlet Dread Central that Saber Interactive’s Hellraiser video game, released earlier this month, is "a wake‑up call" for the franchise and will inspire fresh film and TV projects.

Barker said the game’s success motivates him to stay involved, adding he has "many" ideas he wants to explore and would love another chance to work on the series.

He noted the last Hellraiser film was Hulu’s 2022 reboot and that a planned HBO series has yet to move forward, despite rights returning to him in 2020.

Barker also criticized past movies made by the Weinstein brothers, saying they were produced mainly to retain rights and suffered from budget cuts and creative compromises.
