Anthropic adds mod capability to Claude Code
The new mod framework works in both CLI and desktop versions and includes sample mods for command safety and file‑operation replay.

Anthropic announced on 2 October 2026 that Claude Code now supports a mod system, allowing users to alter its behavior, customize the interface and integrate personal features. Mods are written in a few lines of TypeScript or can be generated by Claude itself, and are installed with the /plugin command in either the CLI or desktop app.
Sample mods include “Blast Radius,” which monitors high‑risk commands like rm -rf and displays a side‑panel description of the command and affected files, and “Replay Theater,” which records file operations and shows a diff view. Both examples were demonstrated by Anthropic’s developer account ClaudeDevs on Twitter on 1 October 2026.
