Charlene White said she feels she "failed" her father after his suicide a year ago, the Standard reported on 28 September 2026.

White, 46, announced her father Denniston's death in October 2025 and said her family chose to be open about the loss. She posted on Instagram a reflection on the "worst 12 months of my life" and wrote, "In many ways I feel like I failed him, by not knowing what he was going through."

She recounted that on the night he died she was returning from a friend's birthday when she received a call just before midnight. She said she "jumped out of the car on the main road, unable to breathe, gasping for air, and fell to the floor" and arrived home to "a sea of flashing blue lights, strangers in uniform and an ambulance". A police officer then told her the details of her father's death, after which she had to inform relatives abroad.
