Marking World Heart Day, cardiologists told TimesNowNews that moderate consumption of coffee or chai – two to three cups a day – is generally safe for a healthy heart and may even provide mild protective benefits. They added that the same principle applies to walking or running, with the frequency and overall lifestyle context being more important than any single habit.
Dr. Ravi Kumar Gupta, a consultant cardiac surgeon at Medanta Noida, warned that excess caffeine can trigger palpitations or temporarily raise blood pressure, but emphasized that most Indians need not abandon their morning beverage rituals.
The specialists also highlighted stress as a major risk factor for heart health, urging people to adopt sustainable habits rather than extreme diets or exercise regimes.
