Police in Hokkaido Prefecture released dashcam footage of a brown bear slamming its body against a car in northern Japan on Tuesday, after a mother bear and her cub blocked the road, Gulf News reported.
The driver stopped when the two bears appeared near the vehicle. The larger bear then approached the bonnet and rammed it before fleeing, while the passenger remained inside. NHK said one person was travelling in the car at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Authorities urged residents and motorists in areas where bears have been sighted to remain cautious and avoid approaching the animals. The incident follows growing human‑wildlife interactions in Japan, a theme also highlighted in Fat Bear Week 2026, which showcases brown bears in Alaska.
