Paralympic swimmer Alexa Leary and Olympic beach‑volleyball gold medallist Nat Cook revealed the fourth component of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic emblems on Thursday at Wild Horse Mountain Lookout on the Sunshine Coast, SMH reported.
What happened
The piece, described as magenta and gold, was the fourth of six elements to be displayed along Queensland’s coast. Earlier reveals included a gold‑magenta sphere in Rockhampton, squiggles in Cairns, and another element in Townsville. The rollout will continue with a piece on the Gold Coast on Saturday and a final reveal in Brisbane on Sunday, with the full emblem to be shown on Monday.
What the reports add
SMH noted that Leary and Cook could not agree on the shape’s meaning, suggesting it might be a leaf, a sun ray, a petal or a "toothpick". The outlet also referenced a press‑pack suggestion that the design could represent the endangered Fitzroy River turtle.
What was said
Leary said she was excited to see the finished product but admitted the new piece did not narrow down the design theories, according to SMH. Cook echoed the uncertainty, adding that the shape could be interpreted in several ways.
How it came about
The emblem rollout began on Tuesday with swimmers Ian Thorpe and Grant “Scooter” Patterson in Cairns and has been staged to engage communities across Queensland, a strategy first reported by Felo News in its coverage of the Gabba pitch transfer and other 2032 preparations.
