Elizabeth Holmes’ documentary villain seeks profit share, hires top Hollywood lawyer

Sources say Evans, the film’s “villain,” is looking for a percentage of the documentary’s earnings and may donate it to charity.

According to Page Six, Billy Evans – the man depicted as the antagonist in the documentary “You Can See Everything” about Elizabeth Holmes – has contacted a leading Hollywood litigator to secure a share of the film’s profits.

Evans, described by the outlet as a scion of a wealthy San Diego hotel family, allegedly demanded a percentage of the documentary’s earnings during a dramatized meeting with co‑director Nathan Fielder. The film, which mixes real footage with reenactments, premiered to a record‑breaking documentary audience last weekend.

The source says Evans’ request is unusual for nonfiction films, a point echoed by other outlets that called the demand “out of line” with documentary norms. The Guardian, cited by Page Six, noted that profit participation is typically reserved for promotional pieces commissioned by musicians, not for a film that extensively interviews a notorious subject.

Evans reportedly approached one of the city’s “highest‑powered attorneys” but was turned down. A source told Page Six, “He wanted to stay away from that one,” referring to the prominent litigator who met with Evans. The source added that Evans may intend to give any eventual payout to charity.

Earlier reporting from NewsNation, also referenced by Page Six, quoted an actor portraying Evans saying he and Holmes would only take part in the documentary if they received a share of the profits – a claim that is not standard practice for documentaries.

LA Times coverage, cited in the article, said that Evans ultimately agreed to forgo payment, fearing the arrangement could compromise the project’s integrity. However, insiders suggest that the situation may be more complex than the public statements indicate.

The documentary, co‑directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, has been praised for its high box‑office performance, earning $15 million in its opening weekend on 855 screens, and holds a 99 % rating on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
